Welcome to LEC Washington

LEC (Loisirs Culturels a l'Etranger) is a travel organization headquartered in Paris. Since 1972, LEC has arranged visits for French students to American homes. Every year, nearly 250 students count on families like yours to open their home and their hearts for three weeks in the summer months. These French ambassadors are here to improve their English skills, to learn about the American culture and create friendships that may last a lifetime.

Please subscribe to this blog, and get updated information on new arrivals, activities planned (for Discovery) and see the students disappear as host families make their selection). Here today, gone tomorrow!

The last Discovery group trip to Kings Dominion was a HOT day, but it was great! Everyone enjoyed the rides and especially the water park!

The 3 weeks have gone by too fast! The kids made their way back to France this past Monday. Everyone had a wonderful time and the host families enjoyed their experiences. We are sad to see them go but are looking forward to next year!

ONE BOY LEFT

Come is 17 years old and was one of the first boy to be placed months ago and something happened that prevented the original host family to participate. Do you know anyone who would like to host Come? He is in the Immersion program, therefore, he doesn't have to participate to group activities. He also asked to be the only French student in the family. Merci a l'avance!

LEC TO PARTICIPATE AT “PIEDMONT DAY” ON MAY 4TH, 2014

Piedmont, a Golf Community
For the 3rd year, I will be participating at the Piedmont Day, May 4th from 2 to 6 pm. Scheduled rain date is May 10th. I will be recruiting area families to welcome French students for a 3-week stay this summer. The program doesn’t require that the host family speaks French or covers the French student’s personal expenses. Hosts need only provide room, board and companionship. LEC provides the rest including comprehensive medical and hospital care insurance and return to France in case of emergency. LEC students are between 13 and 19 years of age and all have a minimum of four years of English studies. Piedmont Day is held in Gainesville, on the Clatterbuck pool, and can be accessed from the Catharpin Rd. entrance.

Families interested are invited to stop by our table and pick up Eiffel Tower shaped cookies along with information pamphlets. A nice sunny day is in order.\

My booth number is #13.

Time to plan your summer!

Gabriel
I hope your plans will include hosting a French student for 3 weeks. Aged 14 to 19, the French students come to the USA to practice their English and to live the American way for a short time. They want to explore new places, see new things and foremost, make new friends. For 3 weeks, they become a member of your family. They will share chores, hang out with your kids, and follow your rules.

This summer, give your family an opportunity to make memories that will last a lifetime.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

Ready, set, go!
Along with the Olympics, we are launching another season. Washington is will be host to 25 teenagers, coming from all parts of France. they all share the same goal: perfect their English speaking skills and live the American life for 3 weeks. I already received the profile of a young 16 year old boy. We only have one group in July (for now) and the dates are from July 8th to the 28th. Please spread the word, and I'll be posting profiles at the beginning of March.
